URT - Fierce Pagan Metal aus Estland
URT (the South-Estonian Setu language word for "Soul of Death") was formed in 2004 and until now they have recorded a demo, 3 full-lenght albums and a split. The music is a mix of agressive black and death metal with lot..s of atmospheric, pagan and epic passages. Lyrics (mostly in Finnish-Ugri Estonian language) are philosophical and paganic (inspired of myths of "Põhjala"), like mantras of becoming oneself a man with forces of Nature (Hell).

Zudem begrüße ich es außerordentlich, dass es auch noch Pagan Metal gibt, der nicht von Flöten, Dudelsaecken und anderer Scheiße durchsetzt ist, mit der man versucht Musik zu machen, nur damit es nach Folklore klingt.

The Estonian Fierce Pagan Metalers URT have released their fourth studioalbum "Ex mortuis - Saatanhark III" (via ARHAILISED HELID). The first edition limited digipak contains a bonus cover song "Tütarlaps kloaagis" originaly by RUJA. Also the videoclip for "Uinuva kaevu saladus"

The music is nothing out of the ordinary. Its solid black/death metal with a solid production, too solid in my opinion. It seems to reflect a range of influences from older swedish to new russian/ukrainian sound, but too little own ideas. The Vocals in this new track are good, very powerful. But I don't think it sounds like pagan metal at all. Maybe thats just how they want to call themselves?
All in all I woukld call this a good starting ground to develop own ideas and maybe next time we will hear something more original. The technical base is there, now you just need good ideas...

I understand your point, in our case it is for us better to sing in our mother-tongue, rather than in foreign. But here is where we loose the "regular" pagan metal mark, do not understand me wrong, our lyrics are very pagan, we are looking for professional help to try to translate lyrics also into English, but it is not so easy, I mean translating is easy but to keep the right aura, that was ment.Ricardo Clement hat geschrieben:Okaaaaaay...

We also want to widden the usual pagan metal categorizing, usually speaking of (epic) pagan metal, you always recal Bathory, Graveland etc. Epic synthesizer guided more doom-like ambience. Our music, is a bit different, sure we have also epic songs, but most of our creation is more inspired of old school death metal riffs, but we categorize our selves still under black metal(what in nowdays is already loosing boundaries).
Our elder releases like debut "Varjuring" have more the archaic sound and rawnes, it is(I think) normal that a band developes and shows progress, unless it is not(also my opinion) worthy to make music.
Also about our non-originality, we have since 2004 when we started completed 4 stduioalbums and we think, we are already grown and maybe to listen to our (little) catalogue the change is also witnessed.
